A Bit About Me
I’m a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience, now working primarily in independent practice. I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh in 2010, following an MSc in Psychological Research Methods and a BSc in Psychology. My early career was spent in the NHS, where I worked in adult mental health services, including specialist work with complex and high-intensity presentations.
Since 2019, I’ve worked in private practice, where I’ve found the flexibility and focus to shape a service that supports a specific client group and allows for more sustainable, values-led work. I’ve worked as both an associate and an independent practitioner and now deliver all services primarily online. I’m registered with several major insurers and also work directly with self-funding clients.
(Quick note on the cover image. I searched “reflective practice” thinking a couple of professionals talking, perhaps with some paper and books and coffee … then I saw this climbing wall photo, and it felt much more appropriate. As a therapist, you are picking out the holds and figuring out what you can do, a supervisor below can offer perspective and insight.. they can offer warnings of potential tricky bits … and support to encourage you go further .. yet they can’t climb for you. )
Do You Offer Remote Appointments?
Yes—my work is primarily online, and this has been my preferred way of working for several years. I have over five years of experience delivering both therapy and supervision remotely, and I’ve carried out research into the effectiveness of online EMDR.
I’m an EMDR UK Accredited Practitioner and have a strong working knowledge of the platforms and tools used to deliver EMDR remotely. I’m happy to support other professionals in building confidence with these tools or transitioning to online work.
What’s Your Approach to Supervision?
My supervision style is reflective, inquisitive, and integrative. I work collaboratively, often helping supervisees to explore patterns, links, and areas that might be outside of current awareness. I bring curiosity, psychological depth, and a steady focus on values, meaning, and personal sustainability.
My training includes CBT and ACT supervision, as well as formal supervision training through NHS Education for Scotland. I draw most from ACT and EMDR in my own clinical work, and often use ACT-informed questions and processes in supervision spaces.
I also bring a background in teaching and instruction, which helps me adjust between structured guidance and spacious reflection depending on what’s needed.
Who Do You Work With?
I offer supervision to qualified Clinical Psychologists, particularly those working in private practice or in the process of developing an independent role. My supervision tends to suit psychologists who are carving out their own path and want space for reflection, development, and personal alignment.
I work best with supervisees who have appropriate systems in place for managing client risk and responsibility, and who are looking to shape their practice in a way that supports both clinical effectiveness and personal wellbeing.
What Are Your Specialist Areas?
I offer supervision and consultation grounded in ACT and EMDR, and I have a strong interest in trauma-focused work. I often support colleagues working with single-incident trauma (e.g. assaults, road traffic accidents, workplace incidents), as well as those navigating more complex or layered trauma presentations. I have moved to an intensive EMDR model, where I provide 2 to 9 hours therapy across three days, depending on client need and payment options.
Alongside trauma-focused work, I also have extensive experience in adult mental health more broadly. I’m familiar with a wide range of common presentations, including depression and various forms of anxiety, and bring this background into the way I think about case formulation, therapeutic process, and supervision.
I also have a specialist interest in water-related trauma, including scuba diving incidents, open water swimming accidents, and water sports. I’m happy to offer one-off consultations in this area for psychologists looking to deepen their understanding or explore specific cases.
